I believe that it is important to share the best of what I have learned with others. By doing so, I hope to provide you with an advantage over those who have to learn everything for themselves. This Best Practice Series focuses on points that I believe lead to success in the beauty industry. These are the fundamentals that I used to expand my company from 1 salon to 4. We use these methods every day to grow and prosper. – Eric Fisher

Build your business with Bogos

BOGOs are cards that you hand out to a new client with an offer to buy one service and get a second service for free. You can set up BOGOs two ways:
– Buy one, get one on the same day.
– Buy one now, get one later.

The truth is your clients have options. It’s fundamental to your business that you get your guests to come back more than once to experience your services so they will choose you as their service provider.

CREATING YOUR BOGO CARD

We recommend offering the “buy one now, get one later” option. It encourages clients to come back again. You can set it up so that a client buys a service now and gets either the same service or a different service. Just make sure that the second service costs the same or less than the first service.

After you’ve figured out what you will offer, you’ll want to design a card to hand out. If you don’t have a platform you use to create your cards, Canva is a great resource.

Here’s an example of a BOGO that the stylists at the Eric Fisher Salons hand out:

HANDING OUT YOUR BOGO CARD

Once you have the cards, who should get your BOGO card? You can give a BOGO card to any potential client.
– Put a card at each door of apartment buildings nearby.
– Hand them out at restaurants, colleges and local sporting events.

The goal of a BOGO card is to entice a potential client to come in for at least two services. Think of the types of clientele you want to have and where to find them. Then, start handing out your BOGO cards.
