act like the owner
What does it mean to “Act Like the Owner?” As a salon owner you are required to juggle personal life, clients, employees, finances, and more. To think of others before you think of yourself. As an employee, if you ACT like the owner, you are well on your way to success in the beauty industry.
Here are some characteristics that a salon or spa owner should have.
Motivation – be a self-starter. Complete your to-do lists and tasks each day.
Independence – Be able to work on your own, and to work with others. Learn to take initiative and stand up for what is right.
Thirst for Knowledge – be a student for life. Always be willing to learn and take on new challenges.
Confidence – Being confident is more than just being sure of yourself. Confidence comes from knowing you’re prepared, you’ve done the best you can, and you are prepared to take on any challenge you might face.
Passion – Passion is a key ingredient to success. It gets you out of bed each morning. Passion will inspire you so YOU can be inspiring to others around you.
the challenge
Today and every day hereafter, act like the owner. Have an appreciative eye. Pick up, clean up, help out and come to work early. Say hello to everyone and good-bye when you leave. Compliment the other stylists’ work. Smile. Do more than you have to. Go above and beyond the call of duty for your clients and associates. Treat people like you want to be treated. Have fun. Be positive. Look at what is right and try to correct what is wrong. When you own your own business you give up the right to have a bad day!
You have to do more than you get paid for before you get paid for more than you do.
