But getting started is the hardest part. In this series, “Business Advice from Eric Fisher,” we tap into Eric’s wealth of knowledge and share advice that will help you reach your goals. Without further ado, here’s the latest business tip.

adding value

I always tell people who work in my company that I am not the boss. I am the bus. The bus that can take you where you want to go. The BOSS is the client. We are in the people business. Your #1 goal is to bring the client back. One way to do that is thru add-on value services.

Add-on value services don’t cost the client extra money, they don’t take a lot of extra time but they can make all the difference to the client’s experience.  Provide a head and shoulder massage. Give an amazing scalp massage before – or during – the shampoo service. Offer a free makeup touch-up, especially if you have removed some of their makeup during the shampoo or color service! If your client is in for a color or a longer chemical service, give them a hand massage during the processing time.

Everyone wants value, whether they are rich or poor. So take an extra 2 minutes of your service time to perform an added-value service. Your client will love the special attention, and they really love getting something for nothing.

the challenge

Make an add-on value service a non-negotiable for enhancing the experience of your client’s salon or spa visit.  We want the guests to transcend past the service and into the experience. Aim for the best experience. The customary is the enemy!
