Without further ado, here’s the latest business tip.

ask for client feedback

Did you know the first thing an interested customer does is check to see how many reviews you have and what your average rating is? Salons that don’t have a lot of reviews just don’t seem legit to prospective customers. The average salon customer is very savvy and will do their research of your reviews before ever deciding to spend money. Did you know, 72% of prospective clients trust an online review as much as a personal recommendation?

Now, more than ever, salons must do their due diligence and ask for reviews, feedback and address any negative reviews immediately.

Some software programs, such as Phorest, have an instant feedback feature. As soon as a guest checks out, the software sends a text asking for feedback on their experience. If the feedback is negative, the salon is notified immediately. If it’s positive, Phorest asks if the client would mind sharing their response on Google or Yelp and provides a link to make the process as smooth as possible. This encourages the people saying the good things to leave good reviews, and gives the salon a chance to address the bad experiences right away.

The reality is, you probably won’t get all positive reviews. Don’t let this keep you from asking. If a client says something that stings, don’t let your ego get in the way of deciding if that feedback is an area you may need to work on. Feedback of any kind is a good thing!

the challenge

Ask your clients to review you – some might have great things to say about you but just haven’t thought to leave you a review – it’s 100% fine to ask!!! Have they already done it online? Share those glowing testimonials on your social media and website!
