I believe that it is important to share the best of what I have learned with others. By doing so, I hope to provide you with an advantage over those who have to learn everything for themselves. This Best Practice Series focuses on points that I believe lead to success in the beauty industry. These are the fundamentals that I used to expand my company from 1 salon to 4. We use these methods every day to grow and prosper. – Eric Fisher
Give Your Guests Surprises
Growing up, I loved Cracker Jacks. What I loved most was the surprise inside! When I opened my own salon, I thought a lot about the experience I wanted my clients to have. I didn’t want it to be like any salon experience they’ve had. Like Cracker Jacks, I wanted to build in little surprises for my guests during their visits.
Give your guests surprises to wow them and keep them coming back. This is a super competitive industry. In order to set yourself apart in this industry, you need to do more for your guests. If you aren’t wowing your customers and providing the best experience possible, someone else will. The more you give the more you get.
Giving your guests surprises doesn’t have to cost a lot of money, or take a lot of time. It’s often the little things we do that mean the most to our clients.
Here are some surprises you could give to your clients:
- A free deep conditioner
- A hand and arm massage
- A complimentary make-up touch-up
- A hot towel treatment
- A foot bath
- Have their favorite coffee at their appointment
- Walk them out with an umbrella when it’s raining
- Call to make sure they made it home safely on a snowy day
What others would you add to the list? Think about what you can do to give more to your clients.
